Ammonia can be removed from wastewater by air-stripping, break point chlorination and biologically by nitrification. For concentrated ammonia solutions 100 ppm and up air-stripping is the preferred method. In this method the pH of the solution is raised and the water is passed through and air stripper as shown below.
